This year, as Reynolds Restoration Services celebrates 20 years, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve had and the people who have made it possible. What began in 2005 as a small team with a vision has grown into a company that has touched lives across the mid-Atlantic.
Looking back, I can say with confidence that our success has not been about numbers or growth alone. It’s been about people, purpose, and the shared values that guide our work every day.
Building a Foundation of Care
When we started Reynolds Restoration Services, the goal wasn’t just to build a successful business. We wanted to create a company that stood for something – where every employee took pride in their work and where communities could count on us in their hardest moments. Our mission has been clear: To Respond and Rebuild with Care.
That mission isn’t just about how we approach our projects; it’s about how we treat one another and the people we serve. Whether it’s bringing a home back to life after a fire or supporting a colleague through a tough time, care has been the foundation of everything we’ve done over these past two decades.
The Human Element of Success
As I think about our early days, some stories come to mind that show what this company has always been about. I remember Rayna Miller, one of our first team members, who joined us back in 2005. Rayna left a corporate job to take a chance on a small company with big dreams. I’m so glad she did. Her story reflects what I hope everyone at Reynolds feels: a sense of belonging and pride in being part of this team.
There’s also the story of Shari Wharton, whose teammates shoveled her driveway during a difficult winter so she could make it to an important doctor’s appointment. They didn’t do it for recognition; they did it because they cared. For me, moments like that define our culture. They remind me that while we restore properties, we’re also building connections, trust, and a sense of community.
Growing Together
Over the years, Reynolds has grown into a regional leader, with three branches and an incredible team of more than 60 professionals. But our growth has never been just about scaling up. It’s been about empowering our people.
Craig McConnell, our Baltimore Branch Manager, sees growth as driven by a focus on both people and innovation while keeping customer service at the center. Craig describes our culture as “compassionate” meaning we help people through tough times from loss to rebuilding. His hope is that Reynolds Restoration always remains “a place where people want to come to work because of the culture.”
One of the things I’m most proud of is our commitment to helping employees develop their skills and take on meaningful challenges. Vice President of Operations Shawn Ostrich once said something that resonates deeply with me. He shared, “It’s about learning together and staying true to our mission.” That’s why I believe so strongly in fostering an environment where people feel supported, trusted, and inspired to put their best work forward.
Our Guiding Values
The heart of Reynolds Restoration has always been our values. Compassion, trust, integrity, and the belief that we’re here to make a difference. Every restoration project, every tough day, and every small victory has been shaped by those principles.
To me, leadership is about more than steering a company; it’s about creating space for others to thrive. Nothing makes me prouder than seeing our team take on challenges with confidence and rise to the occasion, time and time again.
Looking Ahead
Now, as we celebrate this 20-year milestone, I’m full of gratitude. Gratitude for our team, who work tirelessly to bring our mission to life. Gratitude for our clients, who trust us to support them in moments of need. And gratitude for the communities that have embraced us and allowed us to grow alongside them.
The next chapter for Reynolds Restoration Services feels bright. I believe the foundation we’ve built, one rooted in care and driven by purpose, will guide us forward, no matter what challenges lie ahead. Together, we’ll continue to Respond and Rebuild with Care.
To everyone who has been part of this story, thank you. Whether you’ve been here since day one or joined us along the way, you are what makes Reynolds Restoration Services more than just a company. You’ve made it a community I’m incredibly proud to call my own.
Here’s to 20 years of dedication, resilience, and heart, and to many more ahead.
