Meet Mike Cutson, a project manager and estimator celebrating his first year at Reynolds Restoration Services’ Baltimore office this summer. Mike wears many hats, overseeing projects from initial estimates to completion. He juggles tasks like field inspections, coordinating with adjusters and clients, managing contractors, ensuring quality assurance, and keeping budgets in line. He’s the go-to person for everyone involved in the project.
Mike brings several years of experience from the emergency restoration industry, working as a project manager for a different organization. Before that, he served as a ground operations manager for a national airline. While seemingly different, these roles share surprising common ground. In the fast-paced airline environment, Mike honed his leadership, communication, and management skills – all assets that translate perfectly to the dynamic world of emergency restoration.
An early riser (thanks to his airline days!), Mike uses his mornings wisely. He enjoys a quiet start, catching up on news and sports before diving into the workday. However, with newborn twins at home, those quiet mornings might be a thing of the past – in the best way possible, of course!
Settled into the office by 7 a.m., Mike tackles emails, checks project progress, and maps out his day. He thrives on the variety: “One morning I’m ensuring projects run smoothly, the next I’m meeting with clients at their homes. It keeps things fresh and exciting.”
Mike attributes his easy transition to Reynolds Restoration Services to his coworkers. “The smooth sailing I had coming to Reynolds Restoration Services is all thanks to my amazing colleagues,” Mike says. “From day one, my boss Craig has been incredibly supportive, and I couldn’t have asked for better teammates. Ann-Marie and Wes especially went above and beyond during my first few months, showing me the ropes and becoming invaluable resources I still rely on today.”
Outside of work, Mike enjoys exploring Maryland beaches like Calvert Cliffs, searching for fossils with his fiancée Elizabeth. He hopes to share this passion with his twins, Ren and Roman, when they’re old enough. Woodworking is another hobby, but these days, most of his free time goes to caring for his one-month-old twins.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Mike now lives with his family including their rescue pup RuPaul (Ru for short!) in Catonsville. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and structural engineering from St. Cloud State in Minnesota – a unique combination that proves his multifaceted skillset.
Fun Facts
- Mike’s a fan of podcasts, especially those with an edgy comedic twist. Right now, he’s obsessed with “Are You Garbage,” hosted by comedians H. Foley and Kevin Ryan.
- Mike’s fossil hunting hobby started on an Easter trip to a Maryland beach in 2018. A chance discovery of a fossil sparked a passion for prehistoric treasures. Mike dove into researching local finds and has since amassed a collection of thousands of fossils, boasting megalodon and shark teeth, and even whale vertebrae!
- Woodworking is a passion for Mike. He makes “live edge” furniture and often gifts his pieces to friends and family. His favorite piece, though, is his dining room table which he crafted specifically for his home.
